WunderSleeves runs on original art. We're commissioning a small founders' set of creature cards from real artists. Paid work, your signature on the art like a real card, your name in the app.
Art is the whole point
Watch the pond for a minute. Every lily opens in its own time, in its own color. The lilies are the artists. One artist per card, each in their own style, nobody rushed. That's the whole idea behind the founders' set.
Inside WunderSleeves, card backs celebrate the art and the person who made it. No prices shouting over the brushwork. People who paint the things collectors love should be named, signed, and paid. We built the app around that.
The founders' set
Kid-imagined creatures
Some briefs come verbatim from our kids. The first one: "a teeny tiny hippo, dark, sharp, and dangerous." Their words are the spec. Your style is the answer.
Artist-invented creatures
The open brief: paint the creature you imagined when you were their age. Full freedom. Original creatures only, nothing from any franchise.
Card format
One portrait illustration per card. Your signature stays visible on the art, the way real cards carry their illustrator's name, and you're credited by name in the app.
How it works
- Say hello. Email [email protected] with a link to your portfolio and a line about what you love to paint. That's the whole application.
- We reply within a few days. If it looks like a fit, we send a brief and ask what you'd quote. You set the number.
- Everything in writing. A plain agreement before any work starts: the fee, two revision rounds, and the rights spelled out. Usually that's a copyright assignment with a license back to you for portfolio and self-promotion, or we start from your standard commercial terms.
- You paint. We sleeve it. Your card ships in the founders' set with your signature on the art.
What we expect, plainly
- Human-made art. No AI generation, in whole or in part.
- Original creatures only. No fan art, nothing derived from any franchise.
- You keep portfolio and self-promo rights to your piece, always.
- We use the art only as the written agreement says. No surprises.
- Promote yourself loudly. Your credit can point to your shop, your socials, your commission sheet, whatever you want people to find. Share yourself with the world any way you see fit.
- Put a real price on your work. It deserves one. Just know we're not a mega-corp. We're a small lily pad in a big pond, and our budgets are indie sized.
